The US Driving Test

Your State’s Official Driver Manual

Every US state has an official driver manual that explains its traffic laws and rules, and the written test questions come from it. Always start with your own state’s manual from the official source:

Many states publish their manual in languages other than English, and some offer the written test in Arabic; check your state’s website. The manual also has a section for motorcyclists.

These are unofficial practice questions that our site collected years ago from New Jersey and Michigan tests; they apply to most states. We reviewed the answers in 2026, corrected the mistakes in the old list, and removed incomplete questions. Your state’s manual is always the final authority.
